Forced Air Unit (FAU)

Forced Air Unit (FAU) refers to the heating systems that use a central furnace, in which it pumps warm air through ducts to registers (the grates in the floor or ceiling) throughout a house. Other common types of heating systems are: wall furnace, radiant (hot water running through pipes in the floor), wood burning stove, and electric coil units.
